Optimized military income logic
The enhancements have been done in the military income logic to improve employer name recognition and refine regex matching, ensuring more accurate detection and processing of military income
- Improved regex patterns and employer name detection to accurately identify military employers, including terms like DFAS, U.S. ARMY, NAVY, SPACE FORCE, and DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE.
- Normalized military entitlement names for consistency (e.g., treating hyphens and underscores as spaces).
- Supported additional military entitlements via a centralized mapping sheet for standardized classification.
- Renamed Quarterly Allowance to Quarters and grouped it under the Allowance section for consistency.
- Drill Pay is now included under Other Allowances in the absence of a dedicated field.
- Updated logic ensures YTD itemization rules only apply when non-regular earnings (e.g., bonus, overtime, commissions) are present.
- Combat pay is left blank, and the retention bonus is ignored in other allowance calculations.
- Military pay stubs are now exempt from the YTD itemization rule and its associated alert, regardless of whether the income is itemized.
- The YTD itemization rule and alert apply only when the paystub includes additional earnings beyond regular pay, such as:
- Bonuses
- Overtime
- Commissions
- Other variable income
- The alert message remains unchanged, continuing to prompt for a Written Verification of Employment (WVOE) when YTD income is not itemized.
- No alert is triggered when the paystub contains only military income, even if YTD income is not itemized.

Inspect
Improved discrepancy logic and smarter data matching
The following enhancements have been implemented in Inspect’s discrepancy detection logic to reduce false positives and improve review efficiency:
- Middle name mismatch logic: The system now flags a mismatch signal only when full middle names or common suffixes (e.g., Jr, III, Sr) differ. Middle initials are no longer treated as discrepancies. This reduces false positive alerts.
- Date of birth support check: Missing documents for a borrower’s date of birth will no longer trigger a No Supporting Doc flag.
- Parcel ID discrepancy detection: Parcel IDs are now compared exactly across the Purchase Contract, 1004, 1032 appraisal reports, and Encompass 1003 legal description.
- Trailing ZIP code logic: When comparing subject property addresses, the system now ignores the +4 ZIP code extension (e.g., 12345-6789). A discrepancy is flagged only if the primary five-digit ZIP code is missing.
- Separate loan details for comparison: Loan terms are now evaluated individually rather than grouped. This prevents false mismatches in cases where certain documents (like purchase contracts) don’t contain complete loan details.
Inspect condition creation
We are excited to introduce the ability to create conditions in Inspect, a powerful new feature that bridges the gap between discrepancy detection and lender action. You can now create and manage conditions directly from Inspect and sync them seamlessly back to Encompass. This enables a smooth workflow for underwriting and loan processing teams.
- Underwriters: Convert findings into actionable conditions without context switching
- Loan Processors: Track and follow up on missing documents with full visibility
- Lending Ops Managers: Monitor workflow efficiency and ensure compliance
